Laurie Wohl's "Birds of Longing: Exile and Memory" exhibition opens at the Doug Adams Gallery (Center for the Arts, Religion & Education, Graduate Theological Union) in Berkeley on September 3. 
Opening reception September 11, 5-7 PM. 

The13 pieces interweave Jewish, Muslim and Christian poetry and spiritual texts from the period of the Convivencia in Spain and from contemporary Middle Eastern poets, particularly Palestinian and Israeli, in the context of her Unweavings® fiber art pieces. 

Laurie Wohl - Watchwords

An audio component is integral to the project and consists of readings in English, Hebrew, and Arabic of the portions of the texts contained in the Unweavings.

The exhibition in Berkeley continues through Dec. 13. It will then travel, through Spring of 2015, to Atlanta, Chicago, Gettysburg, Louisville, and New York City.
