Call for Ark - NY area

For the past three years, the 92YTribeca has been holding High Holiday services for about 250 people. Now that the venue has closed, the 92nd St Y has rented out Roulette on Atlantic Ave in Brooklyn - http://roulette.org/ - for their services this year. Along with The Sway Machinary's Jeremiah Lockwood and some other avant-garde musicians, they're looking to create an alternative, experimental and meaningful High Holiday experience.

They are looking for an artist who might be interested in lending / displaying a functional ark / art object at Rosh HaShanah and Yom Kippur. Dates: early till mid September.

The piece would be involved in what should be a very experimental, and very public, Jewish happening sponsored by the 92nd St Y.

The artist will receive the following promotion:
  • A write-up as part of the High Holiday package that participants receive, containing your bio, info on your ark and your other work, including contact info.
  • On the 92 St Y's website: your bio, ark picture, description, and your website link.
  • Mention in the email blast.
Interested artists should email jpgs (no larger than approx.1 MB please) of the ark(s) you'd like to display.
Email to jewishartsalon@gmail.com; in the subject line: "ark".
Artists who applied for Jewish Art Salon membership will receive priority.
Deadline July 25.
