Rosh HaShanah - Shoshannah Brombacher

Shoshannah Brombacher, u-veshofar hagadol
Rosh Hashanah (in Hebrew literally "head of the year"), is the Jewish New Year. It is the first of the High Holy Days or Yamim Nora'im ("Days of Awe") which usually occur in the early autumn. Rosh Hashanah is celebrated this year from the evening of Sunday September 16 till the evening of the 18th. Rosh Hashanah customs include sounding the shofar and eating symbolic foods such as apples dipped in honey.

Shoshannah Brombacher's images feature the shofar. Her Hayom Harat Olam paintings refer to the liturgy of Rosh HaShanah: "Today is the birth of the World".
