ArtOnBrighton 2012

Taking place on September 8, 2012 at the NY Aquarium and the adjacent beach, ArtOnBrighton 2012 is the 2nd annual multidisciplinary art festival celebrating the creative energies of post-Soviet Jewish immigrants of Brighton Beach, New York City, and beyond.

Daytime visitors are encouraged to explore Open Artist Studios in and around Brighton Beach, as part of the Brooklyn Museum's GO Project, and vote for their favorite Brighton Beach-area artists. The evening program is comprised of live music, art, and comedy presented at the NY Aquarium, followed by a DJ-spun dance party on the adjacent beach, where a large-scale site-specific art installation, “Brighton is Cool, Ocean is Hot,” made up of 36 working air conditioners.​​

The evening offers the “Amazing Water” art exhibit, open bar and snacks, video projections and live performances by ground-breaking multi-cultural artists, including Y-Love, The Clox, Lady Aye, Alina Simone, and Amour Obscur. Out on the beach, DJ Jason Diamond and DJ Spinach will be spinning a dance party into the night.

ArtOnBrighton 2012 is a project of COJECO in partnership with the New York Aquarium, the office of Assemblyman Alec Brook-Krasny, and Brooklyn Museum’s GO project, with primary sponsorship by the Genesis Philanthropy Group, as well as Shmaltz Brewing Company, the Pickle Guys, and Exclusiv Vodka, among others.​
